How it works

The project verifies and repackages the signed upstream Linux payload from OpenAI. It reuses the official Electron runtime, native modules, and libraries directly. By default, it maintains a byte-identical baseline of the official application's ASAR file. It includes a transactional update manager (codex-update-manager) that polls official APT metadata to keep the app updated while preserving user-selected optional features.
