haydenbleasel/blume

The open-source docs framework for humans and agents.

What it solves

Blume is a zero-config documentation framework that allows developers to turn a folder of Markdown or MDX files into a production-ready documentation site. It removes the need for writing app boilerplate or managing a complex framework setup, while remaining flexible enough to allow users to eject into a standalone Astro project for full control.

How it works

The Blume CLI scans content into a graph and generates a hidden Astro project in a .blume/ directory. This project is driven by the CLI for development and building. Astro renders the site through a catch-all page that utilizes Blume's built-in components and generated data. Users can deploy the site as static HTML or use server adapters for request-time features like AI assistants.

Who it’s for

Developers and technical writers who want to fast, AI-ready documentation sites without the overhead of managing a framework, but who want the system to the option to customize or fully migrate to a standalone app.

Highlights

  • Zero-Config Setup: Converts a folder of docs into a site with no starter templates to clone or framework knowledge required.
  • Rich Component Library: Built-in support for cards, tabs, accordions, code groups, and live component previews without needing to import them.
  • Extensible Content Sources: Supports mixing local files with remote sources like GitHub Releases, Notion, Sanity, and Contentful.
