Halcyon Video transforms the experience of browsing a digital media library into a nostalgic, 3D virtual video store. It replaces static lists of movie posters with a walkable environment where users can physically browse aisles, pick up rental cases (VHS or DVD), and check out titles at a counter.

How it works

The project is a browser-based 3D environment that integrates with existing media servers. It maps a user's digital catalog—where libraries become aisles and genres become sections—into a physical layout. It supports multiple backends including Jellyfin, Plex, Emby, and RomM (for games), as well as a bundled snapshot for streaming services. Users can navigate using a keyboard, gamepad, TV remote, or phone, with WebXR support for VR headsets.
