flairNLP/flair

A very simple framework for state-of-the-art Natural Language Processing (NLP)

What it solves

Flair tackles the complexity of applying modern natural language processing (NLP) to real text. Many tasks like named entity recognition (NER), sentiment analysis, and part-of-speech tagging require specialized models and pipelines. Flair makes these state-of-the-art models easy to use with just a few lines of code, so you can focus on your text rather than on the underlying machinery.

How it works

Flair provides a clean Python interface. You create a Sentence object, load a pre-trained model (e.g. for NER or sentiment), and call predict() to get tagged results. The library also acts as a text embedding library, letting you combine different word and document embeddings, including its own 'Flair embeddings' and transformer-based ones. Because it builds directly on PyTorch, you can also train your own models and experiment with new approaches using the same framework.

Who it's for

It's aimed at developers, data scientists, and researchers who want to quickly apply high-quality NLP to their projects or who want to build and train custom models without starting from scratch. The simple API lowers the barrier for entry, while the PyTorch foundation gives experienced users flexibility.
