Claude Code skills for startup founders — product briefs, competitor analysis, pricing strategy, pitch decks, and GTM plans from your terminal

What it is

Claude‑Skills‑Founder is a plug‑in for Claude Code, Anthropic’s LLM‑powered coding assistant. It adds a collection of “skills” (commands) that help a startup founder run the classic early‑stage workflow – idea validation, market research, persona creation, MVP scoping, pricing, go‑to‑market planning, pitch‑deck drafting, fundraising prep, and related copy.

Each skill is a prompt template that takes a short natural‑language description (e.g., “AI tool that analyzes pitch decks”) and returns a structured artifact: scorecards, tables, checklists, or ready‑to‑send copy. The plugin stores its outputs in a founder/ folder inside the repo so later skills can reuse data (e.g., competitor prices from /competitor‑matrix are read by /pricing‑strategy).

How it works

  1. Installation – either add the plugin from the Claude Code marketplace (/plugin marketplace add emotixco/claude-skills-founder) or clone the repo into ~/.claude/skills/founder. Claude Code then makes the commands available under the /founder: namespace.
  2. Running a skill – type a command with a brief prompt, e.g.:
/founder:validate-idea An AI tool that analyzes pitch decks and gives investor‑perspective feedback

Claude generates a 7‑dimension scorecard, a verdict (build/pivot/kill), and suggested validation experiments.
  3. Data persistence – each skill writes its result to a markdown file in founder/ (e.g., competitor-matrix.md). Subsequent skills read these files, allowing a progressive, reproducible workflow.
  4. Evaluation – the repo includes an evals/ suite that runs the plugin against plain Claude to verify that placeholders are respected and that saved facts are correctly reused.

Who might use it

  • First‑time founders who want a structured, AI‑assisted way to vet ideas without hiring consultants.
  • Solo founders or small teams looking for quick, repeatable research artifacts (competitor matrices, pricing tables, pitch decks).
  • Accelerator mentors who need a consistent checklist to evaluate founders’ early work.
  • Product managers interested in a template‑driven approach to MVP scoping and persona generation.

Strengths & limitations

Strength Limitation
Domain‑specific – prompts are tuned for startup strategy rather than generic coding tasks. Depends on Claude – the quality of outputs follows Claude’s knowledge and reasoning; inaccurate data must be manually corrected.
Structured output – scorecards, tables, and ready‑to‑send copy reduce re‑writing effort. No automated data fetching – competitor prices, market sizes, etc., are sourced by Claude’s web‑search; the plugin only records the links, it does not guarantee completeness.
Persisted workflow – founder/ folder lets you version‑control your research history. Limited to text artifacts – does not generate code, designs, or visual assets beyond markdown tables.
Open‑source & extensible – add new skills by following the documented conventions. Requires Claude Code – not usable with other LLM interfaces without adaptation.

Quick start checklist

  1. Install Claude Code (if you don’t have it).
  2. Add the plugin via the marketplace or clone the repo.
  3. Run /founder:validate-idea with a one‑sentence description.
  4. Review founder/validate-idea.md and iterate through the other skills as needed.
  5. Commit the founder/ folder to keep a record, or add it to .gitignore for privacy.
