Show it a video you love. Get a new video in the same style. An AI crew (Claude Code or Codex) plans, builds and reviews it with you.
What it solves
ReelMimic allows users to create new 2D animated videos that mimic the style, pacing, and editing rhythm of a reference video without copying the original footage, characters, or assets.
How it works
The system analyzes a reference video to extract technical details such as shot lengths, BPM, transitions, framing, colors, and camera movements. It then generates a production plan (storyboard, characters, and style frames) for user approval via a chat interface.
Once approved, the production is handled by a team of AI agents. Up to six agents work on different parts of the video simultaneously, and each completed shot is reviewed by a separate agent to ensure quality. If a shot is rejected, it is sent back for fixes, which must be proven with before-and-after screenshots. The project integrates with Claude Code or Codex to execute the work on the user's local machine.
Who it’s for
Content creators and animators who want to replicate a specific visual or rhythmic style from an existing video to create original 2D animations.
Highlights
- Multi-Agent Workflow: Uses a distributed system of builder and reviewer agents to prevent "one-shot" generation errors.
- Seven Drawing Engines: Supports various styles including vector/motion graphics, hand-painted watercolor, crayon picture book, pixel art, paper cut-out stop-motion, whiteboard doodle, and anime cel.
- Style Extraction: Automatically breaks down the technical structure of a reference video instead of just applying a filter.
- Local Execution: Runs on the user's computer using their own AI provider accounts (Claude Code or Codex).
- Interactive Planning: Users can chat with the AI to refine the storyboard and assets before production begins.
