bugkeep/ai-draw

Create and edit drawings through conversation.

What it is

Draw Agent Studio (repo: bugkeep/ai-draw) is a drawing tool you control by chatting. Instead of clicking through menus, you type what you want — "draw a seaside lighthouse" — and the app creates or edits the picture for you.

Key features

  • Describe — Turn text into sketches, illustrations, or flowcharts.
  • Refine — Change things by talking: move objects, swap colors, delete, undo, redo.
  • Draw by hand — You can also select, drag, use a pen, or type text directly on the canvas.
  • Save & export — Canvases save automatically. You can export as PNG, JPG, WebP, SVG, or as editable Excalidraw files.

How it works

You run the app locally, open it in your browser, and connect an AI model (see below). Then you chat with the model to draw and edit. The demos show a seaside lighthouse and a research flowchart being created through conversation, plus a hand-finished sunflower sketch.

Requirements

  • Python 3.11+ and Node.js 20.19+
  • On Windows, also install Chrome

Setup

  • Windows: Double-click install.bat, then start.bat, and open http://127.0.0.1:8000.
  • macOS / Linux: Install Python dependencies, build the frontend with npm, install Chromium via Playwright, then run python run.py. For later launches, just run python run.py again.

Connecting a model

Open the app, click Settings (top-right), and:

  1. Pick a provider and enter the model name, API URL, and API key.
  2. Use a model that supports image input and tool calling, then click Test connection.
  3. If the test passes, save and return to the canvas.

Supported providers include OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, Ark, or any local or custom compatible endpoint. API usage is billed by your provider.

Example prompts

  • "Draw a multimodal RAG research flowchart, grouped into data preparation, retrieval and generation, and evaluation and output."
  • "Add a quality check and a feedback loop to the evaluation section."
  • "Draw a seaside lighthouse under moonlight, with a small sailboat and stars."
  • "Make the sea a deeper blue-green and brighten the lighthouse light."
