What it solves

Claude Code runs in a terminal, which is fine for running but poor for reading: long diffs scroll away, earlier steps are hard to find, and reviewing changes means switching apps. BaoCode puts a proper window around Claude Code, making it easier to read, search, and review.

How it works

BaoCode is a native Flutter app that draws its own interface straight to the GPU, so it starts in about 0.18 seconds and uses far less memory than Electron-based editors like VS Code or Cursor. It runs the Claude Code you already have, using your settings and CLAUDE.md. It does not have its own agent; Claude Code is the agent. BaoCode adds a readable interface, folding tool output into single lines, letting you keep or undo each change per file, and storing checkpoints in its own data folder. It also includes a built-in IDE with an editor, terminal, and source control. You can add goals with /goal, paste images, and use remote projects over SSH.
