A local multi-agent harness that works with your existing Claude Code, Codex subscriptions, allows you to run an office of agents

What it solves

Don't Be Michael acts as a central office manager for small businesses, automating routine tasks by coordinating a team of AI agents. It solves the problem of managing multiple AI assistants by providing a unified interface where you delegate work to specific departments (like Finance, Sales, or Support) and only intervene when a decision is required.

How it works

The application runs locally on your computer as an Electron-based desktop app. It leverages Claude Code to power individual team members, each assigned a specific role and access to relevant business mailboxes or tools. You interact with "Michael," the office manager, who routes your requests to the appropriate agent. Agents maintain their own memory, folders, and schedules, and they operate under your existing Claude plan or API key.

Who it’s for

It is designed for small business owners and professionals who want to delegate repetitive operational tasks—such as email management, scheduling, and basic administrative work—to an AI-driven team without sacrificing control or data privacy.

Highlights

  • Centralized Management: Michael acts as the single point of contact, routing tasks and managing team coordination.
  • Role-Based Agents: Pre-configured teams for various industries (e.g., Restaurant, Retail, SaaS) with customizable work styles and job descriptions.
  • Local-First Data: All work, memory, and files remain on your computer, with sensitive data protected by local folder isolation.
  • Granular Control: You define exactly what each agent can do, including email permissions (read-only, draft, or send-on-approval) and access to specific business tools.
  • Transparency: A visual dashboard allows you to monitor your team's activity, costs, and task progress in real-time.
