OpenMinis/MinisSkills

Skills collection for Minis.

What it solves

MinisSkills addresses the problem of Claude lacking built-in knowledge for specialized tasks or niche domains. Instead of cramming everything into the base model, skills let users package focused instructions, domain knowledge, and helper resources into a reusable, on-demand format. This keeps Claude lightweight while extending it precisely when relevant.

How it works

Each skill is a directory containing a SKILL.md file with YAML frontmatter (name and description) plus optional bundled files. Claude constantly sees the frontmatter so it can detect when a skill matches a user request. When triggered, the full SKILL.md body loads into context, and extra resources like scripts, references, or assets are fetched only as needed. This three-level system keeps context small and efficient. Skills can also include test cases in evals/evals.json to verify they produce the right output, and can use progressive disclosure—a lean main file with pointers to deeper reference files—to manage complexity.

Who it’s for

MinisSkills is for developers and power users who want to give Claude specialized capabilities, whether that's analyzing sleep data from HealthKit, managing cloud deployments, or handling domain-specific workflows. It's also for contributors who want to share well-crafted skills with the community via pull requests, following the submission checklist to ensure quality.

Highlights

  • Standardized SKILL.md format with mandatory name and description, and optional compatibility field
  • Three-level loading: always-on metadata, body loaded on trigger, and bundled resources fetched on demand
  • Optional but recommended evals (evals/evals.json) to test skill behavior with real-world prompts
  • Progressive disclosure pattern to keep skills under 500 lines while supporting deep reference docs
  • Clear naming conventions (lowercase kebab-case) and directory layout for easy organization
  • Apache 2.0 licensed, fostering a community-contributed skill ecosystem
