☤ The official plugins for Hermes Agent, built and maintained by Nous Research: Home Assistant, Spotify, Claude Subscription DirectSDK and more, one install away from the Hermes plugin catalog.
Hermes Official Plugins – a curated set of first‑party extensions for the Hermes Agent
What it is – This repository houses the official plugins maintained by Nous Research for the Hermes Agent, an open‑source, self‑improving AI agent that can run on anything from a laptop to a cheap VPS. The core of Hermes stays lean; everything that talks to a specific service (Home Assistant, Spotify, Telegram, etc.) lives in a plugin. Each plugin lives in its own sub‑directory with a manifest (plugin.yaml or plugin.json) and its own test suite.
Why it matters – By separating integrations into plugins you get:
- Smaller, faster installs – you only pull the code you need.
- Immediate bug‑fixes – a plugin can be updated without waiting for a new Hermes core release.
- Clear ownership – Nous maintains the official plugins here, while community or vendor plugins live elsewhere.
Key plugins (examples)
| Plugin | What it does | Main tools |
|---|---|---|
| Home Assistant | Listens to Home Assistant events, controls devices via its REST API, can send notifications. | ha_list_entities, ha_get_state, ha_list_services, ha_call_service |
| Spotify | Full‑featured Spotify Web API client – playback, device control, queue, search, playlists, etc. | spotify_playback, spotify_devices, spotify_queue, spotify_search, … |
| Claude Subscription DirectSDK (experimental) | Uses the official Claude Code CLI to run Claude Pro/Max without an API key. | Model provider for hermes model |
| Telegram Business Mode | Drafts replies for a Telegram Business account and requires user approval before sending. | Gateway platform with owner‑approval workflow |
| Memory Wiki | Turns local session history into a browsable wiki‑style dashboard inside Hermes Desktop. | Dashboard tab, read‑only audit panel |
| Blender | Runs a Blender MCP server, exposing a workflow skill so Hermes can read/write a Blender scene. | MCP server + skill (requires Blender 5.1+, Git, uv) |
| Snyk | Scans code, dependencies, containers, IaC, and SBOMs via Snyk’s MCP server. | snyk_security_scan workflow skill |
| Langfuse | Sends a trace of every Hermes turn to Langfuse for observability (spans, generations, tool calls). | Observability hooks |
| Accent Picker (desktop) | Colour wheel in the Hermes Desktop status bar for live theme accent changes. | Desktop UI component |
| REA | Reverse‑engineer binaries, .NET, Electron, Android packages, etc., via REA’s MCP server. | ~170 on‑demand tools |
How to install a plugin
# First install Hermes Agent (one‑liner installer)
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/NousResearch/hermes-agent/main/scripts/install.sh | bash
# Then use the built‑in plugin CLI
hermes plugins install spotify # install Spotify integration
hermes plugins install homeassistant # install Home Assistant integration
hermes plugins update <name> # get the latest reviewed version
The CLI pulls only the plugin’s sub‑directory at a pinned commit, so you don’t download unrelated code.
Development & testing – Each plugin is tested on Linux, macOS and Windows against the current Hermes core. A typical local test run:
git clone https://github.com/NousResearch/hermes-agent
git clone https://github.com/NousResearch/hermes-official-plugins
cd hermes-official-plugins/spotify
HERMES_AGENT_REPO=../../hermes-agent PYTHONPATH=../../hermes-agent python -m pytest -q
To try a local version in a real Hermes instance:
hermes plugins install ./spotify --force
License – MIT (see LICENSE).
