APIX Agent
APIX — A Full-Stack AI Agent Collaboration Platform
What it is: APIX is a genuine, open-source (GPL v3.0) software platform that acts as a complete runtime for AI agents. Instead of just being a chatbot, it lets you build, run, and manage multiple AI agents that work together to complete complex tasks like writing code, generating presentations, or automating workflows.
Core Capabilities (from the README):
- Multi-Agent Orchestration: A "Leader" agent automatically breaks down complex tasks and dispatches them to multiple sub-agents that work in parallel. It even includes conflict detection to prevent agents from editing the same file simultaneously.
- Built-in Tool Ecosystem: Agents can execute code, manage files, search the web, and retrieve knowledge out of the box.
- Controlled Memory System: Memory is isolated into "workspaces," and the platform uses a multi-level automatic context compression mechanism that users can manually control to manage how much the agents remember.
- Safe Code Execution: All code runs inside a Docker sandbox, so agents can execute commands without risking damage to your host operating system.
- Model Agnostic: It supports switching between multiple LLM providers, including OpenAI, DeepSeek, MoonShot, Ollama (local models), and custom providers.
- Customization & Interoperability: Users can create custom task flows via a card-based visual editor, define custom assistant "role cards," and connect to external tools via the MCP (Model Context Protocol). It also supports editing/deleting past messages, which automatically creates new conversation branches.
Architecture & Deployment: The platform is a full-stack application. It uses a Python backend split into four distinct services (Agent, Task, Memory, and File) and an Electron + Vue frontend for the desktop interface. It can be deployed locally via setup scripts or fully containerized using Docker Compose. It optionally integrates with the Milvus vector database for RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) capabilities.
Current Status & Roadmap: The current version is 2.2.2. Notably, the README states that the visual linear workflow editor code is currently broken (low priority to fix), and a major architectural rewrite (APIX 3.0) is in active development. The roadmap includes future features like a plugin system, a plugin marketplace, and a graph-based task flow editor.
