Donchitos/Claude-Code-Game-Studios

Turn Claude Code into a full game dev studio — 49 AI agents, 72 workflow skills, and a complete coordination system mirroring real studio hierarchy.

Claude Code Game Studios

What it is – A template that turns a single Claude Code session into a full‑featured, AI‑driven game‑development studio. It ships with 49 specialized agents, 74 slash‑command skills, 15 validation hooks, and a hierarchy of directors, leads, and specialists that mimic a real game studio’s workflow.

Core ideas

  • Studio hierarchy – Directors (creative, technical, producer) delegate to department leads (design, programming, art, audio, narrative, QA, release) who in turn coordinate specialists (gameplay programmer, level designer, sound designer, etc.).
  • Agent coordination – Vertical delegation, horizontal consultation, and escalation rules keep the AI team organized and prevent unilateral changes.
  • Rigor modes – A single modes.rigor setting (minimal, standard, full) toggles how many documents, reviews, and QA checks are required, letting you start fast and scale up.
  • Slash commands – All 74 skills are invoked with / inside Claude Code (e.g., /brainstorm, /setup-engine godot 4.7, /create-epics, /code‑review). They cover every stage from concept to release.
  • Safety hooks – Bash scripts run automatically on commits, pushes, asset changes, and other actions to enforce coding standards, prevent hard‑coded values, and keep an audit trail.

What you get

Category Count What it contains
Agents 49 Markdown/YAML definitions for each role, with model selection (Opus for directors, Sonnet for many specialists, or inherit your session’s model).
Skills 74 Slash‑command implementations for onboarding, design, art, architecture, story/sprint management, reviews, QA, production, release, and team orchestration.
Hooks 15 Pre‑ and post‑tool scripts that validate commits, pushes, reads, writes, asset JSON, registry changes, and more.
Rules 14 Path‑scoped coding standards (e.g., gameplay code, engine code, UI, network, security).
Templates 62 Ready‑to‑use documents: GDD sections, UX specs, ADRs, sprint plans, HUD designs, accessibility checklists, etc.

Getting started (quick steps)

  1. Clone the repo
    git clone https://github.com/Donchitos/Claude-Code-Game-Studios.git my-game
    cd my-game

  2. Open a Claude Code session at the repository root:
    claude

  3. Run the starter command
    /start

The system asks about your project’s state and creates project.yaml with sensible defaults.
  4. Pick a workflow – e.g.
    • /brainstorm to generate game ideas.
    • /setup-engine godot 4.7 (or unity, unreal) to configure the engine.
    • /create-epics → /create-stories → /dev-story → /story-done to iterate on a feature.
  5. Adjust rigor (optional) with /settings modes.rigor=standard or full.

Configuration

  • project.yaml – Single source of truth for engine choice, naming conventions, and the six internal knobs that compose modes.rigor (workflow, docs density, QA level, story granularity, review mode, team size).
  • Local overrides – Create project.local.yaml (git‑ignored) to change settings just for you (e.g., solo review mode).
  • Settings UI – /settings shows or edits any field; /help explains each knob.

Engine support

Engine Lead agent Specialist set
Godot 4 godot-specialist GDScript, Shaders, GDExtension
Unity unity-specialist DOTS/ECS, Shaders/VFX, Addressables, UI Toolkit
Unreal 5 unreal-specialist GAS, Blueprints, Replication, UMG/CommonUI

Select the appropriate lead with /setup-engine <engine> <version>.

Development & testing

  • studio-tests/ – Lint and behavior tests for the agents and skills themselves (/skill-test static, /skill-test spec, /skill-improve).
  • Game code lives under src/ (engine‑specific) and is tested separately in tests/.
  • Hooks run automatically; missing optional tools only reduce validation, not break the workflow.

License & support

  • MIT License – free to use, modify, and redistribute.
  • Support – Buy‑me‑a‑Coffee, GitHub Sponsors, and the repository’s issue tracker for bugs or feature requests.

TL;DR

Claude Code Game Studios is a ready‑made, AI‑driven scaffolding that gives you a virtual game‑dev studio inside Claude Code. By invoking slash commands you can run structured design, coding, art, QA, and release processes while the 49 agents enforce standards, ask for your approval, and keep an audit trail. It works with Godot, Unity, or Unreal and is configurable via a single project.yaml file.
