CopilotKit/OpenDots

Your always-on AI coworkers that move between text, calls, and Slack.

What it solves

OpenDots provides an open-source template for creating persistent AI "coworkers" (specialist agents) that can operate across multiple interfaces, including web, mobile, Slack, and voice calls. It solves the problem of building an agent workspace where AI agents have their own persistent environments (computers), can collaborate on shared documents (Spaces), and can be reviewed by humans before finalizing their work.

How it works

OpenDots acts as a framework that integrates several components:

  • Specialist Dots: Configurable agents with specific roles, instructions, and tool permissions.
  • Dot Computers: Using OpenBot, each agent is given an isolated container with its own browser profile, files, and terminal, allowing for persistent work across sessions.
  • Spaces: A document workspace where agents can create, revise, and save pages in a searchable library.
  • Multi-modal Interface: It uses AG-UI to stream agent state and tool calls to the web, integrates with Slack via Channels SDK, and supports real-time speech for voice calls.
  • Human-in-the-Loop: A review system that pauses agent actions, requiring a human to "Approve & save" or "Decline" a draft before it becomes a permanent page.

Who it’s for

Developers who want to build their own agent-based workspace or company-specific AI coworkers without starting from scratch, and those looking to deploy self-hostable AI agents with persistent compute and multi-channel communication.

Highlights

  • Persistent Agent Compute: Each agent has its own isolated computer with a browser and shell.
  • Cross-Platform Presence: Agents can be interacted with via text, voice calls, and Slack mentions.
  • Collaborative Document Workspace: Integrated "Spaces" for organizing and editing AI-generated content.
  • Human Review: Built-in approval cards to prevent agents from saving unverified work.
  • Automatic Learning: Support for per-Dot learning containers and skill delivery.
