Comfy-Org/ComfyUI
The most powerful and modular diffusion model GUI, api and backend with a graph/nodes interface. The fastest local inference engine in the world.
What it solves
ComfyUI solves the problem of lacking control and flexibility when generating media with AI models. Visual professionals often want to fine-tune every model, parameter, and output, but many tools are black boxes. ComfyUI provides a visual node graph where users can assemble, tweak, and reuse complex workflows without writing code. It also focuses on running these models locally on consumer hardware, including GPUs with as little as 4GB VRAM and 8GB RAM, using asynchronous weight streaming to keep performance high.
How it works
ComfyUI uses a node-based visual interface. Each node represents a step (e.g., loading a model, applying an effect, or outputting an image), and wires connect them to define the flow of data. Workflows can be saved as JSON and reloaded, and even exported into a simple UI via App Mode. The engine executes graphs locally with features like asynchronous queueing, partial graph re-execution, smart VRAM/RAM management, and model offloading. It natively supports a wide range of open-source models for image generation, video, audio, 3D, and text, and can also load separate components like VAEs, LoRAs, ControlNets, and upscalers.
Who it’s for
ComfyUI is aimed at visual professionals—artists, designers, and developers—who need granular control over AI generation, and who want to run powerful models locally without depending on cloud services. It is also suitable for users who want to integrate AI workflows into production pipelines via API endpoints, and for those who prefer a self-hosted, offline environment.
Highlights
- Visual node graph for building workflows without code, supporting images, video, audio, 3D, and text.
- Highly optimized inference engine for diffusion models, with support for low-VRAM hardware (4GB VRAM + 8GB RAM).
- Native support for a very broad list of state-of-the-art open-source models, including Stable Diffusion, Flux, Wan, HunyuanVideo, and more.
- Runs fully offline; optional paid API nodes (partner nodes) provide access to some closed-source models.
- Available on Windows, Linux, and macOS via desktop app or portable build, plus an official cloud version.
- Extensible with custom nodes, and supports high-bit-depth image/video formats like 16-bit PNG, 32-bit EXR, and 10-bit AVIF.
- Includes built-in tools for inpainting, outpainting, model merging, upscaling, segmentation, depth estimation, and more.
- Integrates into production via API endpoints and offers a weekly release cycle with stable core versions.
