What it solves

CodexHost allows developers to use multiple different AI agent harnesses (such as Pi, Claude Code, Grok Build, and DeepSeek Harness) within the single, unified interface of Codex Desktop. It eliminates the need to switch between different applications while maintaining the native experience—including streaming responses, tool approvals, and diffs—of the original agents.

How it works

Instead of using a generic protocol that strips away native features, CodexHost uses a CLI shim to transparently connect to the official app-server. It enhances the Codex Desktop interface via CDP/Electron Inspector and maps the native interfaces of various harnesses (like Pi's RPC or Claude Code's SDK/CLI) directly to the desktop's existing streaming, tool, and diff systems. It also supports remote connections via SSH or a specific Remote Control mode for Windows.
