BlackBeltTechnology/pi-agent-dashboard

Real-time web dashboard for pi coding-agent sessions. Multi-session view, live chat mirroring, integrated terminal, diff viewer, pi-flows execution, and mobile-first remote control via mDNS or zrok tunnel. Coexists with pi's TUI — doesn't replace it.

PI Dashboard – Quick Overview

What it is: A web‑based control panel that lets you run, watch, and interact with multiple pi coding‑agent instances (the open‑source AI‑driven code‑assistant pi from Bad Logic). The dashboard runs as a Node.js server (or an Electron desktop app) and presents a single browser tab where you can spawn new agents, see their live reasoning, attach OpenSpec changes, and manage costs.

Key capabilities

  • Real‑time session mirroring – every active pi session appears instantly in the UI with live‑streamed chat, token usage, model info and a progress gauge.
  • Bidirectional interaction – you can send prompts, run tool commands, or answer ask_user dialogs directly from the browser.
  • Workspace organisation – sessions are grouped by folder/branch and can be reordered by drag‑and‑drop.
  • Integrated terminal & diff viewer – an in‑browser terminal (xterm.js + node‑pty) and side‑by‑side diff tool for file changes.
  • OpenSpec & flow integration – browse spec changes, run pi‑flows, and view flow graphs from the same UI.
  • Provider management – add API keys for Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini, etc.; custom LLM endpoints are supported and take effect live.
  • Extension system – plugins can expose slash‑command‑triggered modal UIs without writing React code.
  • Networking – automatic mDNS discovery, optional Zrok public tunnel, and an MCP endpoint (POST /mcp) for external clients like Claude Desktop.
  • Mobile‑friendly – responsive layout with touch targets and swipe drawer.

How to get it

  1. Electron app – download a pre‑built installer (macOS, Linux, Windows) from the GitHub Releases page. No Node.js or terminal needed; the wizard sets up pi and the dashboard in ~/.pi-dashboard/.
  2. npm package – npm i -g @blackbelt-technology/pi-agent-dashboard then run pi-dashboard (or pi install npm:@blackbelt-technology/pi-agent-dashboard). Opens at http://localhost:8000.
  3. From source – clone the repo, enable pnpm with corepack enable, run pnpm install && pnpm run build, then install with pi install ….
  4. Docker – docker compose up -d --build in the docker folder runs the whole stack (server, pi agent, code‑server, Zrok, tmux) in a container.

Typical workflow

  • Launch the dashboard (desktop app or browser).
  • Use the Settings pane to add your LLM provider keys.
  • Click New Session → choose a folder/branch and a spawn strategy (headless or tmux).
  • Watch the agent’s reasoning stream in real time; answer any ask_user prompts that appear.
  • Attach an OpenSpec change or run a pi‑flow from the sidebar.
  • When finished, stop the session (soft abort → force‑kill) or let it finish and export the logs.

Who it’s for

  • Developers who already use the pi coding‑agent and want a visual way to manage many concurrent agents.
  • Teams that need to monitor token spend, organize sessions by project, or expose the dashboard to remote collaborators via Zrok.
  • Plugin authors who want to extend the UI with custom modal dialogs.

Where to learn more

Bottom line: PI Dashboard is a genuine, production‑ready UI for orchestrating multiple pi AI coding agents, offering live monitoring, session control, and extensibility—all accessible via a single browser tab or a packaged Electron app.
