Agent Skill for generating 2D sprite sheets and map, transparent PNG frames, and animated GIFs from prompts.
What it solves
Agent Sprite Forge provides an automated pipeline for creating game-ready character sprite sets from a single generated image. It eliminates the manual work of cutting frames from sprite sheets, hand-keying animations, and correcting color drift in AI-generated video clips, allowing developers to turn one approved character design into a full set of keyed, looped, and timed animations for various game engines.
How it works
The system uses a multi-step pipeline integrated with AI agents (such as Claude Code, Codex, and Grok) to manage the generation and processing of assets:
- Master Still Generation: An agent generates several versions of a character still; the user approves one, which becomes the identity reference for all subsequent animations.
- Image-to-Video Generation: The agent creates one image-to-video clip for each required action (e.g., idle, walk, run, attack).
- Automated Processing: A suite of Python tools handles the technical cleanup:
- Gating: Checks for identity consistency, motion quality, and timing.
- Keying & Registration: Uses a soft-matte keyer to remove backgrounds and registers the character to prevent "pumping" or scaling issues.
- Cutting & Retiming: Automatically selects the best loop points for gait cycles and retimes one-shot animations (like attacks) to game-speed.
- Finishing: Applies an HD finish or a crisp pixel-art downscale with a limited color palette and binary alpha.
- Colour Lock: Prevents color shimmering and hue flips common in video models.
- Export: The processed frames are packaged into formats compatible with Godot, Aseprite, Tiled, LDtk, and web engines.
Who it’s for
Game developers and artists who want to rapidly prototype or produce high-quality, consistent AI-generated character animations without manual frame-by-frame editing.
Highlights
- Single-Still Workflow: Generates a complete set of actions from one approved master image.
- Multi-Provider Support: Integrates with OpenAI, Google Gemini, xAI, BytePlus, and fal.ai for image and video generation.
- Engine-Ready Exports: Direct exports to Godot SpriteFrames, Aseprite JSON, and various map formats.
- Pixel Art Mode: Converts HD assets into crisp pixel art with selective outlines and a spaced palette of up to 32 colors.
- Automated QC: Includes a gating system to reject poor takes and retake animations based on fix clauses.
