Cognizant and Anthropic Partnership for Enterprise AI Adoption

Cognizant is deploying Claude to up to 350,000 employees globally and integrating Anthropic's agentic tooling into its core engineering platforms. This partnership aims to move enterprise AI from the experimentation phase to production outcomes by combining frontier AI models with industry-specific blueprints and engineering platforms.

Large-Scale Internal Deployment of Claude

Cognizant is making Claude available to employees across engineering, delivery teams, and key corporate functions. A primary focus of this internal rollout is the use of Claude Code to accelerate DevOps workflows, documentation, testing, and coding tasks.

Integration of Agentic Tooling and Engineering Platforms

Cognizant is aligning Claude models, Claude Code, the Model Context Protocol (MCP), and the Agent SDK with its own engineering platforms. This integration allows clients to orchestrate multi-step work with human oversight and integrate AI with existing applications and data while managing risk, spend, and performance.

Core Technical Implementations

Cognizant is utilizing specific platforms to deliver AI-driven outcomes:

  • Software Engineering Productivity: Claude and Claude Code are integrated with the Cognizant Flowsource•’s Platform to accelerate software development processes via MCP-based access to developer tools.
  • Legacy Modernization: Anthropic's code understanding and transformation capabilities are combined with Cognizant's modernization frameworks to speed up the refactoring and analysis of large codebases.
  • Agentification: The Agent SDK from Anthropic is paired with Cognizant Neuro® AI Multi-Agent Orchestration to create domain-specific agents and multi-agent systems that operate under explicit policies and human-in-the-loop controls.
  • Industry Solutions: Using the Cognizant Agent Foundry, the partnership is developing vertical solutions, starting with Financial Services, to embed agentic workflows into regulated enterprise environments.

Addressing Enterprise Engineering Challenges

The partnership targets specific pain points faced by CIOs, including the maintenance of thousands of legacy code applications and a shrinking pool of talent capable of understanding these systems. By automating the refactoring of legacy code and enhancing developer productivity, the partnership aims to shift engineering resources from maintenance to the creation of new capabilities.

Responsible AI and Governance

Cognizant is advancing practices for the safe deployment and monitoring of AI at scale. These operations are aligned with enterprise governance needs and open standards, specifically the Model Context Protocol (MCP).
