OpenAI models are coming to Google Cloud

Partnership Overview and Strategic Integration

OpenAI has announced a partnership with Google Cloud to bring its frontier models and Codex agentic workflows to the Google Cloud Model Garden. This integration allows enterprise developers and data scientists to access OpenAI's capabilities directly within their existing Google Cloud environments, facilitating the development of complex agentic workflows at scale.

Enterprise Infrastructure and Governance

The integration is designed to address the requirements of organizations in regulated industries by combining OpenAI's model performance with Google Cloud's enterprise-grade security features. Key benefits for enterprise users include:

  • Data Governance: Utilization of Google Cloud’s built-in access controls and centralized data governance frameworks.
  • Performance: Support for demanding enterprise workloads via Google Cloud's high-performance infrastructure.
  • Procurement: Customers can purchase access to OpenAI models through the Google Cloud Marketplace, allowing them to apply their existing Google Cloud spend commitments toward these services.

Expanded Ecosystem and Model Choice

Beyond the Model Garden, OpenAI models will be integrated into Google Antigravity and the Gemini Agent. This expansion is intended to provide enterprise customers with greater flexibility, enabling them to select the most appropriate model for specific tasks and streamline the transition from initial model evaluation to full-scale production deployment.

Availability and Cloud Partnerships

General availability for OpenAI models on Google Cloud is scheduled for the coming weeks. Interested organizations can request access through the official OpenAI portal. While this partnership expands the accessibility of OpenAI's technology, Microsoft remains OpenAI’s primary cloud partner.
