xAI expands Grok Build to all users

xAI has made Grok Build generally available across web, iOS, and Android platforms. This feature allows users to describe an application, game, website, or dashboard in natural language, and Grok generates a working version of that project live within the chat interface.

Publishing and Distribution

Every application created with Grok Build is hosted on a grok.me address. Users have granular control over visibility, with options to make the app private, accessible via a direct link, or public to the entire internet. For those requiring professional branding, custom domain support is available.

To enhance sharing, Grok automatically generates a cover image for each app. This art serves as a rich preview that unfurls when the link is shared in messages, documents, or on the X timeline. Users can regenerate these covers, upload their own, or request redesigns from Grok during the conversation.

X Integration

Apps shared on X are rendered as inline banners that include the user's handle. For games, the cards include a play affordance, allowing users to interact with the app before leaving the feed.

Technical Capabilities and Extensibility

Users can integrate SpaceXAI APIs into their apps to enable internal calls for chat, images, and voice without the need to manage API keys. This allows for the creation of dynamic content, such as trivia games that generate questions on demand or notes apps with built-in summarization.

Since the Early Beta, xAI has introduced several new development features:

• Remix: Allows other users to fork a published app and modify it.
• Export to GitHub: Projects can be pushed to a GitHub repository for further development in a code editor or via the Grok Build CLI for the terminal.
• Secrets: Provides a secure way to store API keys for third-party services outside of the application code.
• Connectors: Enables the integration of business data to create live, filterable dashboards.
• Custom Domains: Allows users to point their own owned domains to their published apps.
