xAI Introduces The X Subscription: Integrating Grok, Cursor, and X Premium

Overview of The X Subscription

xAI has launched The X Subscription, a consolidated service that integrates Grok, Grok Bot, Cursor, and X Premium into a single billing and usage ecosystem. This initiative aims to provide a unified path for users to move from ideation and creation to coding and social sharing, offering higher usage-per-dollar ratios compared to previous standalone plans.

Core Components

The subscription combines four primary services into one package:

  • Grok: Provides support for chat, voice, and the generation of images and video.
  • Grok Bot: Offers AI-driven teammates designed to assist with task automation and workflows.
  • Cursor: Delivers local and cloud-based coding agents. The X Subscription includes at least twice the coding usage compared to comparable standalone Cursor plans.
  • X Premium: Includes platform features such as a verification checkmark, creator tools, and reduced or removed advertisements.

Usage and Billing Structure

The X Subscription utilizes a shared pool of Grok model usage that applies across the Grok app, the Grok tab on X, and the Cursor IDE. While the subscription covers xAI-native models, third-party models remain available within Cursor on Premium and higher tiers, with usage billed separately via API top-ups.

Subscription Tiers

Plan Price Included Usage
Free $0 Limited
Plus $8/month Base
Premium $30/month 4x Plus Plan
Super $100/month 15x Plus Plan
Ultra $200/month 50x Plus Plan

Support for Teams and Enterprises

Teams can access Premium, Super, and Ultra tiers at the same per-seat pricing as individual users. This structure offers a lower cost per seat than previous Cursor Teams plans while providing three times the coding usage. Additional features for teams include Single Sign-On (SSO), administrative controls, consolidated billing, usage analytics, and SOC 2 compliance. Enterprise customers receive a centralized dashboard for managing Grok and Cursor usage across their organization.

Transitioning for Existing Subscribers

Existing subscribers to SuperGrok, Cursor, or X Premium are not required to change their current plans and may retain their existing pricing and feature sets. Users who choose to migrate to The X Subscription can do so via their account billing settings, where they may be eligible for limited-time offers and prorated refunds for their previous plans.
