Anthropic Pauses Credit System Change for Claude Code

Overview of the Policy Pause

Anthropic has officially paused the planned transition to a dedicated monthly credit system for the Claude Agent SDK, claude -p, and third-party applications built on the Agent SDK. These tools will continue to operate under the existing subscription rate limits rather than moving to a separate credit-based billing model as previously announced in May.

Current Status of Tool Access

Access to the Claude Agent SDK and claude -p remains unchanged for users. Usage continues to be governed by the existing subscription limits, and there is no requirement for users to claim a specific credit. Anthropic has stated that they are delaying the change to "better support how users build with Claude subscriptions."

Future Implementation

Anthropic intends to update the plan for credit-based usage. The company has stated that they will provide advance notice to users before any future changes to the rate limits or billing structures for the Agent SDK and third-party apps take effect.
