Claude Code and Admin Controls for Team and Enterprise Plans

Anthropic has launched premium seats for Team and Enterprise customers that integrate Claude and Claude Code under a single subscription, accompanied by a new Compliance API for enhanced organizational governance. This update allows developers to transition from high-level ideation in Claude to terminal-based implementation via Claude Code while providing administrators with granular spend and policy controls.

Integrated Development Workflow with Claude Code

Premium seats enable users to utilize both the Claude chat interface and the Claude Code agent, streamlining the development lifecycle from research to production. Developers can use Claude for exploring architectural trade-offs and researching unfamiliar frameworks, then switch to Claude Code in the terminal to implement the chosen architecture and build production-ready code.

Early adopters have reported significant productivity gains:

"Since bundling Claude for Enterprise with Claude Code, we’ve rolled it out to hundreds of developers, and it has quickly become our go-to pair programmer," says Artem Pikulin, Senior Manager of Machine Learning Operations at Behavox.

"Claude Code and Claude have accelerated Altana's development velocity by 2-10x, transforming how we build sophisticated AI/ML systems," states Peter Swartz, Co-founder and Chief Science Officer at Altana.

Administrative Controls and Cost Management

Anthropic has introduced comprehensive management tools to provide organizations with predictable billing and centralized oversight of AI usage.

Spend Controls and Pricing

While standard seats include usage for a typical workday, admins can enable "extra usage" for individual users at standard API rates. To maintain budget predictability, administrators can set maximum spending limits at both the organization and individual user levels.

Seat and Policy Management

Admins can now manage the following via the admin panel:

  • Self-serve seat management: Direct purchase, allocation, and provisioning of users.
  • Managed policy settings: Enforcement of internal policies across Claude Code users, including file access restrictions, tool permissions, and MCP server configurations.
  • Usage analytics: Access to metrics such as suggestion accept rates, usage patterns, and lines of code accepted.

Compliance API for Enterprise Governance

The new Compliance API provides Enterprise organizations with programmatic, real-time access to Claude usage data and customer content. This replaces manual exports and periodic reviews with a system that supports continuous monitoring and automated policy enforcement.

Through this API, organizations can:

  • Integrate Claude data into existing internal compliance dashboards.
  • Automatically flag potential policy violations.
  • Manage data retention using selective deletion capabilities.
