Run Claude Code, Codex, and other agent CLIs in Obsidian

What it solves

It integrates AI agent command-line interfaces (CLIs) directly into the Obsidian sidebar, eliminating the need to switch between a note-taking app and a separate terminal window to interact with coding agents.

How it works

The plugin uses xterm.js for terminal emulation and Python's pty module (or pywinpty on Windows) to create a pseudo-terminal that runs agent CLIs within the Obsidian interface. It supports multiple backends, allowing users to switch between different providers like Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, and Cursor Agent.

Who it’s for

Obsidian users who use AI coding agents and want a seamless way to provide file and folder context from their vault to these agents without leaving their workspace.

Highlights

  • Multi-backend support: Compatible with Claude Code, Codex, Grok Build, OpenCode, Antigravity CLI, Kimi Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor Agent, and Pi.
  • Deep Obsidian integration: Right-click menus for folders and files allow users to send paths directly to the agent or open the agent in a specific directory.
  • Multi-tabbed interface: Ability to run multiple agents side-by-side in the sidebar.
  • Cross-platform: Works on macOS, Linux, and Windows (with WSL support for path translation).
