Native macOS client for Claude Code — a GUI desktop app built with SwiftUI

What it solves

Clarc provides a user-friendly graphical interface for the Claude Code CLI, removing the barrier of the terminal for non-developers. It transforms a command-line agent workflow into a project-centric desktop experience, making it easier to manage repositories, approve tool calls, and handle Git operations without needing to master a shell.

How it works

Clarc acts as a native macOS wrapper that spawns the actual claude CLI in the background. Because it uses the original engine, all existing Claude Code features—such as CLAUDE.md files, MCP servers, and slash commands—remain fully functional. It adds a SwiftUI-based layer on top to handle visual diffs, project switching, and file management.

Who it’s for

It is designed for macOS users who want the power of the Claude Code agent but prefer a GUI over a terminal, specifically targeting non-developer coworkers or those who find CLI-based agent interactions cumbersome.

Highlights

  • Project-Centric Workspace: Manage multiple local or GitHub repositories in parallel with dedicated windows and tabs.
  • Visual Tool Approvals: Risk-aware modals that show actual code diffs before allowing the agent to execute changes.
  • Integrated Development Tools: Built-in file explorer with Git status, a SwiftTerm-powered embedded terminal, and a per-project rich-text memo pad.
  • Simplified Setup: GitHub OAuth integration that automates SSH key setup for seamless repository cloning.
  • Advanced Session Control: Ability to fork conversations from any message, queue prompts, and adjust reasoning effort levels per session.
