What it solves
Typefree is a macOS application designed to replace traditional typing with an AI-enhanced voice input system. It solves the friction of raw speech-to-text by automatically removing filler words (like "um" and "ah"), correcting sentence structure, adding punctuation, and formatting paragraphs before inserting the text directly into any active input field.
How it works
Users trigger voice input by holding a shortcut key or the mouse button. The app captures audio, converts it to text using Volcengine, and then uses LLMs (such as Tongyi Qianwen) to refine the transcript into polished writing. It can also function as a floating AI assistant: holding the mouse in a blank area allows users to ask questions that appear in a top-right overlay without switching windows.
Who it’s for
It is built for macOS users who want a faster, more natural way to input text across any application (WeChat, Notes, browsers, code editors) and those who want a quick way to query an AI assistant without leaving their current workflow.
