Offline Codex Desktop migration for Windows and macOS.
What it solves
Codex ReHome is a tool designed to migrate user data from one computer to another for the Codex Desktop application. It allows users to move their projects, conversations, skills, and plugins without relying on a cloud sync service, providing an offline migration path for users switching devices or reinstalling their systems.
How it works
The tool operates as a desktop application that bundles selected content into a single .rehome file. The process involves three steps:
- Export: On the original computer, the user selects the specific projects, conversations, and plugins they wish to migrate and generates a
.rehomefile. - Transfer: The user manually transfers this file via a cloud drive, USB drive, or local network to the new computer.
- Import: After installing and logging into Codex on the new machine, the user imports the
.rehomefile to restore the data.
Who it’s for
Developers and users of Codex Desktop who need to move their work history and configurations across different operating systems (Windows and macOS) or perform backups before system re-installation.
Highlights
