Codex Mate provides a unified control plane for managing multiple local AI coding agents (such as Codex, Claude Code, OpenCode, and others). It eliminates the need to manually handle disparate configuration formats, session storage, and skills directories across different agent tools.
How it works
It acts as a local agent bridge using a CLI and Web UI to orchestrate various agents. It manages configurations by writing to the agents' native config files (e.g., ~/.config/kilo/kilo.jsonc) or by projecting active providers into native configs to avoid polluting user settings. It also includes built-in proxies to normalize API responses (converting Codex Responses API to OpenAI format) and connect Claude Code to OpenAI-compatible providers or Ollama.
