Kiri-Innovation/3dgs-render-blender-addon
3DGS Render by KIRI Engine
What it solves
This project provides a set of tools to integrate 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) content into Blender, allowing users to import, edit, animate, and render these high-fidelity 3D captures within a standard 3D production workflow.
How it works
The add-on allows users to import .ply files containing Gaussian Splats. It offers two primary modes: an Edit mode for modifying splats using Blender's native selection, modifiers, and color tools, and a Render mode for optimized viewing and final output. It also enables the composition of splats with native Blender scene elements and provides experimental features for baking lighting, creating rigged animation sequences, and generating Eevee shadow proxies.
Who it’s for
It is designed for 3D artists, technical artists, and 3DGS researchers who want to manipulate and render Gaussian Splatting data inside Blender.
Highlights
- Full 3DGS Workflow: Import, edit, and export 3DGS
.plyfiles. - Blender Integration: Use native modifiers, selections, and visibility controls to manage splats.
- Animation Support: Experimental ability to create proxy-based animations and bake rigged splat sequences.
- Lighting and Shadows: Experimental support for baking lighting information and creating sampled Eevee shadow proxies for splats to cast shadows on meshes.
- Mesh Conversion: Ability to convert supported mesh data into 3DGS output.
