prompt-master: what it is, what problem it solves & why it's gaining traction

What it solves

Prompt Master is a Claude skill designed to eliminate the "trial-and-error" cycle of prompting. It prevents users from wasting API credits and time by transforming vague requests into precise, high-quality prompts tailored to the specific requirements of various AI tools.

How it works

The tool operates as a structured pipeline that processes every request through several stages:

  1. Tool Detection: It identifies the target AI system (e.g., Midjourney, Cursor, Claude Code) and routes the request to the appropriate approach.
  2. Intent Extraction: It analyzes the request across nine dimensions, including task, constraints, audience, and success criteria.
  3. Clarification: If critical information is missing, it asks a maximum of three targeted questions.
  4. Framework Selection: It automatically applies one of 12 prompt architectures (such as RTF, CO-STAR, or RISEN) based on the task.
  5. Optimization: It applies safe techniques like role assignment and XML structural tags, then performs a token efficiency audit to remove unnecessary words.
  6. Memory Management: It uses a "Memory Block" system to carry forward prior decisions from a conversation to ensure consistency across long sessions.

Who it’s for

AI users who utilize a wide variety of tools across different modalities (text, image, code, video, 3D, and agents) and want to achieve the desired output on the first attempt without repetitive re-prompting.

Highlights

  • Broad Tool Support: Includes specific profiles for over 30 tools, including LLMs (Claude, GPT, Gemini), IDE AIs (Cursor, Windsurf), and Image/Video generators (Midjourney, Sora, Runway).
  • Detailed Pattern Detection: Identifies and fixes 35 common "credit-killing" patterns across task, context, format, scope, and reasoning.
  • Agentic AI Optimization: Provides specialized templates for autonomous agents (like Devin or Claude Code) focusing on stop conditions and file scope.
  • Multi-modal Templates: Dedicated architectures for visual descriptors and reference image editing.
